Steve Karcher, Berea College’s vice president for operations and sustainability, has resigned his position effective July 5, 2013.
Karcher joined Berea College in November 2007 and provided business operations leadership to various college enterprises including, Boone Tavern Hotel & Restaurant, Student Crafts, Dining Services and the Berea College Store. He also provided leadership for Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities Management, People Services, Printing Services and the Berea College Forest.
“We appreciate Steve’s experienced and energetic leadership. For the past six years he has worked with internal and external partners to advance the mission of Berea College,” said President Lyle Roelofs. “He has been a dedicated and innovative colleague and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
Steve and his wife Noreen are relocating to Vermont where he will join Stone Environmental, an environmental consulting firm.
During his tenure at Berea College, Karcher enhanced the college’s commitment to sustainability while managing several key institutional priorities and initiatives, including the construction of the new “Deep Green” residence hall that is expected to be one of the world’s greenest residential facilities when it opens in August of this year.
