Berea College Celebrates 137th Mountain Day, Oct. 17
Berea College will host the 137th annual Mountain Day celebration on October 17 at Indian Fort Theatre. Bereans will celebrate the tradition by participating in a day of free and fun activities, food and hiking in the college’s forest.

Mountain Day began in 1875 during the presidency of E.H. Fairchild as an annual campus-wide picnic that featured hiking, hay rides, music and a hike to Indian Fort through the Berea College forest.

I remember Mountain Day fondly and the hiking; some of us remember camping overnight on the mountain peaks, singing beside the camp fire and sharing snacks. Those were good times still cherished!
